Been busy on a side project. I've built a 'clone' of the Heathkit HD1250 dip meter. I started with a three gang variable capacitor (only two gangs are used) out of an old transistor radio and the HD1250 schematic. I used a crystal socket instead of the 'RCA' jack for the coil connector, the coils use banana plugs. So far I've only wound one coil. The original used MRF501 and 40673 transistors which are kinda hard to find these days. A common 2N5179 sub's for the MRF501 (almost the same specs), and I actually had a few 40673's in the junk box. So far, it seems to work OK (coil I wound is for 3.2 - 9 mhz). A useful bit of test equipment that will come in handy later when get around to working on the radio that the DDS stuff is for. I'll post a link to a photo or two later.
